Join ceramicist Katie Moore for a one day workshop hand-building wobbly pots from coils. Katie will lead you through the process of building your pots using coils and shaping forms with characterful angles and curves. The class will start at 10:00am with a brief introduction before attendees spend the morning building their pots. After a lunch break, Katie will guide you through some of her surface design process and attendees will add colourful slip decoration to accentuate the forms of the pots they’ve created.

With a background in illustration, Katie Moore makes sculptural vessels that serve as a background her playful and brightly coloured painted surfaces.

What to bring? All tools and materials will be provided. Wearing old clothes that can get mucky is advisable. Please bring your own apron and towel to the session.

Collection: Ceramic work will be ready 4 weeks after the final workshop to allow time for pieces to be glazed and fired. Pots can be collected from the studio at CAST during Open Access Sessions on Monday and Thursday evenings 5:30pm – 8:30pm and Friday afternoons 1:30pm – 4:30pm.

£120 includes tuition, equipment, materials and firing of up to 3 pieces.

What to expect from the course

Starting at 10:00am, attendees will be guided through the process of making coil pots by Katie Moore, continuing to build and sculpt pieces. Lunch will be an hour in the middle of the day before attendees focus on finishing and decorating their pots in colourful slips. The class will finish at 3:30pm.
